I am currently working on a photographic project that I have been meaning to do for years. It’s on my doorstep but as always with stuff on your doorstep it never gets visited.
St Gabriels Church at Brownhill, Blackburn is quite an impressive structure. I remember many years ago hating it, I thought it looked brutal and industrial but things have changed. I am now a huge fan of brutal modernist angular buildings. As a photographer I now really appreciate the building I think it is a wonderful and it reminds me in a lot of ways of the Tate Modern in London, It is not quite how the architect Francis X Velarde originally designed it, as it now has a sloping roof and a cap on the bell tower (You can view photographs of the original structure here http://www.ntprints.com/pictures_1348433/detail.html ). Never mind it still looks impressive .
Here are my most recent photographs of the church.
