Panopticon Pennine Lancashire – The Singing Ringing Tree

June 30th, 2009

Here is photograph from a project I am currently working in. It is work in progress at the moment so I am not sure if this is the style I will finally go with.

The image is of one of a series of Panopticon sculptures in Pennine Lancashire.

This particular one is the ‘Singing Ringing Tree’ designed by architects Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu of Tonkin Li and it won the National Award for architectural excellence by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in 2007.

The sculpture harnesses the energy of the wind to produce a low, tuneful sound.
