A few years ago I was commisioned by Royal Liver Assurance in Liverpool to get some corporate photographs of Peter Strung. I think he was the new finance director, I cannot quite remember. Anyway I arrived and was informed by the marketing dept that I would have around 20 minutes with him. Oh great!
We decided to shoot some images outside the building, which as you can probably guess is the iconic Royal Liver Building in Liverpool. We tried the usual shots of Peter in front of the building, a safe image but as we where short on time it was necessary to get something in the bag. Anyway things where going well and Peter was enjoying it. He then suggested we do some shots outside The Institute, Liverpool where he had been a pupil. So we did, we drove up to The Institute, did a few shots outside with the building in the background. I remember lying in the street, brand new coat, getting covered in dirt as there roadworks in and around the area.
We then headed back down to the Royal Liver Building and to the canteen in the basement. I spotted the yellow wall and the white tables. Perfect, I sat Peter at the end of one of the tables with his back to the wall. I placed the camera on the table lit the scene and fired away. This was two hours after the first shots outside. Peter was great and appeared to enjoy the whole experience. I think he realised you need time to get good shots and I think it paid off, what do you think? Here is the final shot.
