Slumdog Millionaire

February 23, 2009

Went to see Slumdog Millionaire over the weekend.

Despite all the hype and media coverage the film is absolutely superb.

The photography was some of the best I have seen in a long time. Praise indeed for Anthony Dod Mantle the Director of Photography who incidentally was the Director of Photography on Wallander which was shown on the BBC earlier this year. He certainly deserves his Oscar.

I also watched a ‘Making of Slumdog Millionaire’ over the weekend and learned that the film was shot digitally as conventional film cameras where impossible to use in the slums of Mumbai

Also it has a great soundtrack

My advice would be to go and see it.

I have just had a remarkable portfolio visit.

I was introduced to architect Karl Zaldats at Michael Rayner Associates Chartered Architects, by Graphic Designer Steven Carlin.

All three of us met this afternoon to discuss photography for Michael Rayner Associates new website which Steven is designing. What a refreshing an inspiarional meeting it was to. We discussed at length my architectural photography together with how it would fit in to the construct of their website. We also discussed in depth, architecture in general and how it relates to photography and design.

It was so wonderful to be around people with similar ideas and visions. My portfolio of photography was admired by Karl who could see what I was getting at.

We are going to be working on the website over the next few weeks so I will keep you posted on the progress.

Here is a photograph of the Imperial War Museum North, Salford, Manchester which forms part of my architectural portfolio
