Locations for Portraits
When I am commissioned to shoot corporate portraits etc. A comment that is occasionally said to me is 'Our office's are small/ugly/busy/cramped/ we need to find another location' Well another location would probably be great and may produce more interesting shots, but it is all about utilising a space.
Many of my clients appreciate the need for spending time on photography to create quality images and realise the value. But it can all be down people's diaries, after all my corporate clients are running businesses not model agencies and as the saying goes 'time is money'. If you have the time,we can produce something great, in-fact if you have the time and money we could go abroad and spend a week shooting in an exotic location!!
Simple head and shoulders shots can be set up in the smallest of offices. In the past I have actually set up a small makeshift studio in an office kitchen for simple head and shoulders shots. I have used clients living rooms in their nearby house to give the impression of an office meeting. I have used stair wells, tiny boardrooms, corridors, receptions areas, lifts, I have even used the back of a van for some 3/4 length portraits.
If you have a nice location and great offices this will elevate the images but just because you think a location is small/ugly/busy/cramped/ it is amazing what can be done in these tiny spaces
